I have so many great mini session options for you this fall!

Details for each session can be found below and when you've found that perfect session, click the "book a session" button and sign up.

Spots are limited to immediate families or up to 5 people, unless noted. Larger groups and extended families will need to book 2 mini sessions back to back or contact Kate to schedule a regular session. A non-refundable deposit is due upon booking.

For one day only the studio will be available for a variety of different mini sessions, this is a great way to update your family photos, Father's day, Mommy and Me, Headshot, Senior & Maternity. These mini sessions include a 10 minute session, 5 high resolution images that you get to pick & discounted professional prints. The cost is $100 plus tax due at booking. At this same time I will offer 2 very special mini's, The All American & First Responders Appreciation sessions. Please read on to see what's included.

I'm so excited to announce this summer's All American studio mini session. Not only will you get to pick your top 5 favorite images you can also order discounted professional prints to go along with your digital package! One day only June 15th, limited spots available. Includes 5 digital high resolution images. Investment $100 plus tax, due at booking. Can accommodate up to 4 small children, not suitable for families due to the size of the backdrop. This session is 10 minutes.

First Responder Appreciation Mini Sessions!

Hosted the same day I'll be offering the All American studio mini sessions for the kids. Interested in booking both - make sure to reserve 2 time slots.

First Responders will receive a complimentary family mini studio session. The first responder must be in uniform for the session. Families will receive one digital image.

For the 1st time, KD Bug Photography will offer mini sessions for just the kids! That's right, no need to dress up the whole family. Let me capture these fleeting moments of your children, who are growing like weeds. I know all too well, my oldest is already 13!

Children's Fall Mini Sessions

This year I'll be hosting Christmas mini sessions with the option of having two separate backgrounds which will add more variety for your portraits this year. This set up can accommodate up to 6 people comfortably. There are two videos posted below that show the studio set up.

I just love this time of year. Fall's cooler temperatures are so refreshing. Bonfires, apple picking, and a cozy sweater are some of my favorite things about fall, but what I love most are fall mini sessions. That's right! Back again this year I'm hosting my annual fall mini sessions at Kinder Farm Park in Millersville, MD.

Mini Session Includes:

25 minutes, 25 high resolution edited images to view & download from your private online gallery. A print release will be provided. Discounted prints are also available. Need a USB, no problem, it's only $25 extra and that includes shipping. Mini sessions can include up to 7 people and yes you can bring your dog. An additional fee of $25 per person will be added if you have over 7.

The rain date is scheduled for the following day, 10/30. When booking, please make sure you're available both days and for the time you're booked. There are no refunds or cancellations with this session. If you can't make it, you forfeit the $50 deposit. The remaining balance of $215 is due on the day of the session, cash or check only.

A rain date will be rescheduled to another mini session date, there are several to choose from. I will notify everyone within 24 hours of the session if we need to postpone. If you can not make another mini session date work with your schedule, I will do my best to schedule you at another time or I will be happy to return your deposit.

There simply is not enough time to capture large groups in 20 minutes, that is why you must book 2 slots if you have 8 or more.

A deposit of $25 is required to book. The remaining balance is due on your session date. A notice of 72 hours is appreciated if you need to change your session date due to sickness or other reasons. A scratch or bruise is not a reason to reschedule.

Covid-19 safety measures

There are several evening sessions available to miss the weekend crowds at the parks. It's important to wear your mask and I will do the same. Once you are within a safe range you will remove your mask for your photos. I'm normally very hands-on during my sessions but due to covid I will stay about 10 ft away. I know this may be awkward especially with small children and I apologize.

KD Bug Photography LOVES hosting mini sessions!! They are meant to be quick and they are just perfect for families with kids that are looking to update their yearly family portrait. In years past I've hosted Christmas mini's at my home, but not this year becasue of Covid. A little research and I found the perfect studio space to rent. The winter white theme this year will make a lovely backdrop for your portraits. In addition to the the holiday theme there will also be a 2nd area to capture your portraits to add more variety to your gallery. The studio has plenty of parking and a bathroom. Christmas music will be playing and a Holiday treat will be given to all children.

Maternity Milk Bath Session

Talk about a dreamy session. For all the Mom's to be, this is the session for you! These milk bath sessions are a beautiful way to capture the glow of an expecting Mom and it's fun and relaxing at the same time. Add some milk, fresh flowers & you'll have timeless maternity images your going to love forever!

Before we got started with the milk bath, we went outside (in the rain) and captured a few of the big sister to be and Mom. The rain didn't stop them from having fun, in fact I think they enjoyed it even more.

If your interested in booking a milk bath maternity session, the best time to schedule is at 8 months. When booking a maternity and newborn session together I offer a discount.

Shoot and Share finalist for the past 2 years!

Last year I entered an international photo competition, called the Shoot and Share photo contest. I have always loved entering photo contest, but knowing that this one is international and there are over 300,000 photos entered each year made it much more exciting to me. For the past 2 years, I have placed as a finalist for the maternity and newborn and birth category, which is an amazing feeling! One of the best things about this competition is that it's voted on by the people. A similar feeling would be if you submitted photos into an art show and you won the BEST OF SHOW, which is voted on by the people.

Fresh 48 Newborn Portraits

Who knew hospital baby portraits could be so beautiful! I've been capturing fresh 48 photo sessions for over 5 years and they are easily one of my favorite types of sessions. If your considering having hospital portraits taken, contact me early to insure I can be on-call during the time the baby is due.

You may be asking, what is a fresh 48 session?

It's a mini session that last no longer than 30 minutes. I will come to your place of birth once your little one arrives with in 48 hours. During this very special day I will photograph all the important details just hours after your baby arrives. From baby's 1st yawn's, wrinkly feet, to meeting their sibling for the 1st time can all be documented. These sessions capture the real moments, so there are no props & limited posing and editing.

Investment $300

Included during the session is capturing all the moments from the second I arrive. From the bassinet, feeding time, to cuddle time and close-up's & images with your doctor or midwife all will be documented. You will receive a minimum of 50 edited images, with a mix of black and whites and a print release. The gallery will be posted with in 24-48 hours and you'll have access to downlad and share the images immediately. Travel to hospitals and birthing centers with in 25 miles are included in the fee, additional travel will be added to anything over that.

I hope you are as execited as I am because fall mini sessions are here again! We all love fall and all the beautiful colors that come with it. In the past I have always hosted mini sessions in October, but this year it will be held the 1st weekend in November, due to the fall foliage at the park.

There are only 7 spaces available this year. If you book before September 10th, receive a $10 print credit.

Update: There are only 2 spaces available as of September 25th

The mini session includes: 30 minutes, 25 digital edited images to view and download from your online gallery. A print release and high resolution images are provided. Discounted prints are also available. Want to order a USB, no problem it's only $10 extra.

Times available are: 9am, 9:45am, 10:30am, 11:15am, 3pm, 3:45pm & 4:30pm.

Your session is booked when full payment is received, with tax the total is $265. There are no refunds or cancellations with this session. If you can't make it, you lose the full deposit or you can find someone else to take your spot.

Another important note, KD Bug Photography will not be hosting Christmas mini's this year. It is the 1st year I will not be providing these sessions, but I am happy to come with you to a tree farm or your home for the holidays and capture those memories. All-American Mini Sessions 2017

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! I'm so excited to announce this years summer mini session. Set for Sunday July 2nd. This is one day only. Start time 9am-11:30am & 3pm-5pm. The mini session last 15 minutes and immediately afterwards you get to pick your top 5 favorites. Bookings will take place every 1/2 hour to ensure families are given enough time to pick out their favorite digitals and order discounted prints.

This mini session is for children only (age 6 months and up). The studio space is not large enough to capture family portraits. I do still have availably this summer to schedule a family session, so if your interested in that send me an email.

The backdrop this year will be a vintage American flag, here is my handsome son posing for me. I have several props for all ages to pick from.

To book, email me the time that works best, and how many children will be included. 2-3 smaller children can fit easily or you can do them separately. I'm so excited to announce my holiday mini sessions for 2016! This is by far my favorite set up I've created & it's the 1st time I've offered a 15 minute session, which makes it much more affordable for you. I'm also offering a 30 minute session for families who think they will need the extra time. The session takes place at my home studio in Pasadena Maryland & after your session is over there will be fresh baked cookies for you to enjoy. All galleries will be posted with in 2 days!!! A quick turn around so you can get those Christmas cards ready and order your prints for fantastic gifts. Due to space, this mini session is designed for kids only. Up to 3 small children can fit comfortably.

From Belly to Baby - Pasadena Maryland Maternity and Newborn Photographer

Lori and I have been friends for a few years. She went through the police academy with my husband and they have been friends since. The 1st time I met Lori was at her maternity session with her 1st child, Corbin. I've had the pleasure of capturing Corbin's newborn & 1st birthday portraits and what an awesome little guy he was. Now fast forward to 2015, Lori asked me to capture some family portraits and her big announcement was that she was pregnant.

Time seemed to fly by and before I knew it she was contacting me about Avery's newborn photos. I offered to come by and get a few shots of her while she was still expecting. It was a snow covered day and the lighting was perfect. A few days later, sweet baby Avery came into the world. I caught up with the family when Avery was 11 days new. Lori had so many cute outfits for her baby girl and she did such a great job posing for me.

It's been hard to keep up with my blog lately... My baby girl is getting older and I find it harder and harder to update the site because I have no time to do so. My little girl is finally sleeping better so I'm taking the time now to upload some of my favorite sessions.

Baby Gianna was perfect, absolutely perfect during her session. She had spent some time in the NICU so she was older than my typically newborn session, but I honestly couldn't have been more excited to photograph this little one and her big sister. The lighting, the outfits, everything was perfect.

I was so happy when this little one arrived! When I met my husband (9 years ago) I was introduced to Steve and Sara, Steve is childhood friends with my husband. I'm so glad we've been apart of each others lives for so long & I was happy to go to Sara's childhood home in Silver Springs Maryland to capture their 2nd babys' newborn portraits. At 10 days new baby Beau was alert and content. It took him awhile to fall asleep but he eventually did and that's when I was able to capture the portraits by the piano and on the guitar. This was such a fun and relaxed session, I wish they were all this easy. Enjoy!

At the 1st of the year I traveled into Baltimore city to capture 5 day old Baby W. Although we scheduled the session early and he was well fed, Baby W had other plans besides sleeping. He just wanted to take it all in and stayed awake almost the entire session. Big brother didn't care to much about being in the photos, so he got his Dad's camera and started snapping away too...I was glad to have a helping hand ;-)

For this session I meet up with my brother and his family out by Lake Gordon in PA, we stopped along Evitts creek road for a few shots and then went to the waters edge, where it was so muddy, not ideal for high heals, right Christina, LOL. Fall in Western Maryland can feel like the beginning of Winter, which was definitely the case this past weekend! It decided to snow right when we started our fall session, and I'm not talking about just a few flurries...it was snowing!!! But what troopers the Blank family was. We started the session at the beautiful Big Red Barn in Grantsville, Maryland and then drove away from the snow storm to Frostburg, where we finished the session at the Depot, home of the Western Maryland scenic railroad. She is here | Our new little bundle | Bayleigh Rose

She's here!!! We are so excited to announce we have a little girl. Bayleigh Rose arrived one week ago today, in the late day, June 22, 2015 at 9:17pm, a little bigger than her big brother was at birth @ 7 lbs 4.4 oz. She has inherited my crooked pinkies and looks just like big brother Patrick when he was born. Baby, Momma, Daddy and big brother, Patrick are doing well!

I'm proud to share these photos taken by my husband and doula's, who captured the day and our happiness just hours after the birth of our baby. After some rest and time with my daughter, I grabbed my camera and started snapping away too.

As we settle into life with another sweet soul to love, we appreciate your support, kindness and well wishes. As long as all goes well and Bayleigh can get over the jaundice hurdle (& our daily trips back to the hospital :-( ) I will be back to work August 4th! I appreciate your patience with any lag in response, due to the fact we are gushing over our little girl.

I was lucky to have two incredible Doula's to help me through my labor.

I LOVED my experience at Special Beginning Birthing Center and the midwives there. Johanne delivered my baby and she was there with me most of the day. Everyone was so wonderful, which made the day go fast.

Months before this little one come into the world, her Mommy contacted me to set up her newborn session and I was so happy, because this little cutie happens to be my cousins baby. I traveled to Fairfax VA to capture little Reese at 8 days new. She was the the best baby!!! Simply the best. I moved her around and posed her with ease. Sibling images are one of the most requested when baby arrives, so we tried every way possible to get older sister Shay to join her new sister. Finally I got a few good shots in Shay's room where she was reading to Reese. Sometimes you just have to roll with it and get the shot you can. It was hard to pick my favorites from this session, I thought they all turn out so good. Here are just a few. ENJOY!!

Baby Abriana Joy | Newborn Session | Odenton Maryland

I got to meet little Abriana not once but twice for newborn pictures. The 1st time being at the hospital and again at their home in Odenton Maryland. The normal newborn routine of feeding the baby & heating the room to a nice warm temperature wasn't what Abriana had in mind to go to sleep. She was wide awake for the 1st 2 hours of the session, LOL...which is the way it goes sometimes in this business. We are on the baby's schedule that's for sure! Finally she got into that deep sleep, but it didn't last long. With each set change and outfit change she was awake and not too happy. Luckily Abriana's Momma had a lot of patience (and coffee) and we continued through the day to get some of the cutest images seen here.

Love is Lovely | Annapolis Maryland Valentines Day Engagement Session : Lisa & Eric

I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine's Day, I know Lisa & Eric did! It isn't the flowers (or even the chocolate) that makes Valentine's Day so special, it's the love. I really had such a blast capturing their sweet session in Annapolis Maryland. It was a bitter cold morning, and LOVE was in the air, that's for sure. Lisa & Eric are such a joy to be around, playful with each other, and so adorable! Lisa has the most infectious smile, talk about making my job so easy & lets not forget Eric, he was so natural in front of the camera. I just adore how we finished the session, by enjoying a warm cup of coffee at the local Starbucks & creating fun "save the dates" for their wedding in October.

Maternity sessions are always amazing to shoot but when there’s a sibling involved, they just get even sweeter!

I love, love, love at home sessions and I think they lend a more casual and comfortable look to the session as well. Last summer I met this family for the 1st time to capture Miss Harpers 1st Birthday session. I'm so glad they contacted me again this winter to photograph their maternity portraits at their home in Centreville Maryland. There is something about photographing a pregnant belly that captivates me. That little tiny baby growing within....just truly a beautiful miracle. I think little Miss Harper is excited to become a BIG sister, she's been reading the book "I'm a BIG sister" and she was hugging on Mommy's belly the whole time. In just a few short weeks Brad and Shelly will welcome their little boy into the world & I'm so exited for their growing family! I'm looking forward to meeting baby Nolan in April.

Cindy & Danaye's Maternity & Newborn Session | Federal Hill, Maryland

This session took place in early September, 2014, Yes, I'm really behind on my blog, but at least I'm catching up on my "slow" days. At just a few weeks shy of her due date, this Momma wanted to capture some maternity photos at the stunning location, Federal Hill. The weather was perfect that evening for their sunset shoot over looking Baltimore's inner harbor. Big Brother, Danny also joined us, he was so proud and excited to have a little brother soon.

On 9/11/15 little Isaiah was welcomed into the world. At just 11 days new I drove to their home and set up for his newborn session. His Daddy is a Baltimore City Fireman, so we knew we wanted to capture some portraits in his Daddy's helmet. Mom and Dad are also huge Ravens fans and since the season was just beginning they wanted to incorporate a cute Ravens hat. We finished the session with some family shots. I loved photographing this sweet family. You can really feel the warmth and love they have for one another.

In baby photography, I think 6-7 months is the perfect milestone age. At this age babies tend to be SOOOOO HAPPY, and I just adore that! Agree with me or not, you can’t argue with how adorable Baby McKenzie is in her pearls. We started off her baby portraits at the her home in Severna Park, where the lighting was AMAZING. After a few outfit changes we headed outside for a few shots. At this point McKenzie might have been a *tad* sick of me, but all it takes to impress a 7 month old is a fake sneeze and acting like a fool, and snap, I get the smile.

Baby Luciana Lyric | Baltimore Newborn Session

In July, yes, this post is a few month coming, I got to meet this sweet little baby and capture her newborn photos not once, but twice. Her parents are friends or mine and really wanted me there to capture Luciana's 1st moments in the hospital for more of a Life Style session and then again a few days later at there home in Rosedale, MD.

When Luciana arrived, her parents contacted me and we arranged a time to meet at Mercy Medical Center. At just 2 days old Luciana was alert, content and very happy. She had a full head of beautiful wavy hair & had her little eyes open most of the session. At the hospital I took more natural candid style photographs, we also took some breaks for Mom & Dad to feed her and to talk about the birthing story. It was a wonderful time and getting to hold her was the best part! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the hospital.

Mom and Dad picked the "Say Cheese" onesie just for the shoot.

Just 5 days later I met up with them at their home for my traditional style newborn session. The nursery theme was done with the characters from the Dr. Seuss books. Mom's love for all the books came at a young age, when she was a kid. Included in this session are fun photos with the cat in the hat "hat", Dad's love for martial arts & music, some family shots outside and a very touching moment where Luciana Daddy included his Father's (Luciana's Grandfather) folded American flag, such a sweet gesture to honor him. I'm excited to watch this little one grow and play and to photograph all her milestones. Enjoy the post!

Kroix turns ONE and soon to be BIG brother

Happy 1st Birthday to Kroix & soon to be BIG brother. During his birthday session we captured some pictures of mom's baby belly too. A 1st Birthday wouldn't be complete with out a cake. Kroix dived right into his Mickey Mouse cake and I captured some cake smash photos. I've really enjoyed getting to know the Davis Family. Fall inspired Clothing Tips | Baltimore Maryland Newborn and Family Photographer

Trying to figure out how to dress your family for your fall photo shoot?

With my recent Fall bookings and a new season of clothes in stores, I thought it would be a good time to share some “what to wear” inspirations. One of the most frequently asked questions I get from clients is about their wardrobe and what they should wear to their photo shoot. Below are a few great looks that may provide some inspiration. The key to having a great ensemble for your family is to have complementing colors with pops of texture and subtle patterns. Gone are the days where everyone has to be matching! I recommend picking two or three colors out and sticking within that palette.

Location

When considering what to wear always take into account the setting of where your portraits will be taken. Layering items will also allow for you to get several different looks without having to change your entire outfit.

Pay attention to the details

Scarves, hats, shoes, jewelry… these all play a part in making your “look” come together. However, keep in mind that sometimes, less is more. Bigger accessories can become distracting.

Last winter I captured family photos with my immediate family (19 people, 6 of which where under the age of 8!) and I know first hand that it can be super stressful to get outfits for everyone that “go”. In our situation, we picked blue and gray as our colors and with the textures, patterns and different shades, it really turned out perfectly...as you can see.

Comfort is Key!

Probably the most important thing I can tell you: wear what you know you look good in & what is comfortable! This is especially important because the way you feel about yourself in a particular outfit will come through in the images. This is true for kids as well as adults! Moms: how many times have you had to fight tooth and nail to get your little one dressed in something they didn’t want to wear, only to have them sulk about it for a while afterwards?
Make sure to wear clothes that are fitted, but not too snug. When clothing is a little too tight, it can show off bulges that you would rather keep hidden!

Lastly, Enjoy Fall 2014...I hear we're in for a bad Winter.

So this beautiful little lady was just as sweet as could be and slept like a dream. She definitely looked like a princess, but shouldn’t she though? I had a wonderful time photographing Madelyn. At 3 weeks old I was worried she wouldn't sleep soundly, but she proved me wrong and sleep through her whole session. I particularly like how she's smiling in the last image posted, it's like she knows how spoiled she will be!

Zachary turns TWO!!!

I was trilled when Zach's Mom requested me to come and take his portraits. It's so hard to believe this little one turned 2! I've been capturing his portraits since he was a newborn and getting to watch him grow up through my lens has been awesome. This session was one of my more active and FUN ones, Zach kept me busy to say the least. I was thankful for my fast lens, because little Zach wasn't gonna let me pose him one bit. After meeting up at Zachary's house and capturing some photos there, we left for one of his favorites parks. He played on the sand and admired the view of the Chesapeake Bay and then we played at the playground. Here are a few of my favorite images!

I had the pleasure of photographing sweet baby Adelynn, at 8 days new. She was a perfect little princess during her session in Notthingham Maryland. Since Tim & Krista were leaving the sex of the baby a surprise, once they found out, she asked me to bring a few pink props. Tim & Krista really wanted to include their black lab, Guinness (aka the 1st baby) into the portrait session. He's already playing the role as the protective brother. After we captured all the images of Adelynn we stepped outside for a few family shots. I was also able to capture a generation photo of Grandma, Mom and baby girl. This couple was an absolute JOY to photograph! When it came to the day of the shoot, Krista rocked it as an incredibly stunning mother-to-be! She and Tim are such a fun couple to be around and the love they have for each other simply radiates from them! Joining us in their maternity session was Guinness, their handsome black lab who loved to jump in the pool, as you will see in one of the photos.

One week after this session, on Father's Day, Adelynn made her debut into this world.

I'm so glad I got to meet and photograph this beautiful family at Oregon Ridge park. They made me smile the whole time during their spring sunset session, what I like to call the "golden hour". This was the very 1st time for this family of 8 to have family portraits taken, so I feel extremely honored that they picked me to capture these moments for them. The little ones in blue are 19 months old (Shawn & Bradley). They had fun trying to keep up with their older siblings (Michael, Shane, Alexis & Julia) causing me to chase them in order to get a good photo. Lora and Shawn are both so relaxed and happy parents. It's refreshing to see a couple with their children enjoying each other so much.

Little Sweetheart | Kinder Farm Park | Millersville Maryland

This past Sunday, over Memorial Day weekend, I got to meet and photograph this little sweetheart. When her father contacted me earlier in the week I was hoping we would have amazing weather for her outdoor shoot at Kinder Farm Park & that we did. I brought a few props along and so did she, which included some of her favorite toys. We walked through the park finding all sorts of fun places to photograph. Near the end of the session I included her Dad in a few pictures. Although he wasn't expecting me to take any portraits of them together he didn't hesitate to jump right in and have fun with it.

"We've got ears, say cheers" - Mickey Mouse

Hot diggity dog, Rory is turning ONE! I was so excited when the Mulvihill family called to schedule Rory's Birthday session. During his newborn session I captured some of my favorite newborn images of him with his Daddy's baseball glove, so we had to incorporate that again. Rory loves Mickey Mouse, so we planned for that as well. After the cake smash was over, we headed to Lake Waterford Park in Pasadena, MD for some family portraits. Here are just a few of my favorites from Rory's birthday session.

Corbin Turns ONE | 1st Birthday Session

Happy Birthday to Corbin! When Corbin's Mom contacted me for his 1st Birthday session, I couldn't believe it. It seems like yesterday when I was at their house photographing his newborn session. His Mom said they wanted to do a nautical theme and a cake smash. They also wanted to get some environmental family pictures at Lake Waterford Park and include some pictures of Corbin on the swings, one of his favorite things to do. I was happy to incorporate all these things & it all worked out perfectly. Not only were Corbin's parents excited that he was turning ONE, but so was he! He holds up the number 1 through out the session, gotta love that.

Baby Nora | Newborn Session | Jessup Maryland

This quote made me think of Miss Nora. During her newborn session she gave us so many big smiles, as if she knew we were there just for her that day to capture her newborn portraits. Not only was Nora full of smiles, but she slept most of the session, which is a newborn photographers dream.

I really enjoyed meeting up with the Watson family in the comforts of their home. I received a call from them when Nora was born, saying that they received a gift card to have some newborn pictures taken. We quickly worked out the details and I met up with them a few days later. Since Nora was so sleepy I was able to take lots of images, here are a few of my favorites.

Spring Portraits | Family of 4 | Downs Park Maryland

It was a beautiful spring evening to meet up with the The Courville's, a family of 4, at Downs Park, MD. Little Rhys had a ton of energy and just wanted to run, pretty common for a 14 month old. Lets just say it was hard to keep up...haha. He loved the swings at the park and being tossed in the air, and when he smiled, it was simply adorable. Sweet little Camryn was a social bug, not shy one bit. As a 3 year old does, she asked a lot of questions. When taking the family to the beach, she didn't seem to mind one bit that her shoes where full of sand, as were her Mom's shoes and mine. I'm so glad the Courville's contacted me for their family portraits. After spending the evening with them, I know that family comes 1st and foremost for them.

One of my favorite quotes is "While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about".

How quickly time flys | Milestone Sessions | Pasadena Maryland

How quickly the time goes when your having fun and watching a baby grow. I've had the honor of photographing the Wilson family from their maternity session all the way to their son's first Birthday. Included are 4 separate sessions, the 1st being their maternity session, taken on the beach at Down Memorial Park in Pasadena, MD. I could tell how over joyed they both were for there son's arrival. We started the session at there home in the baby's room where everything was ready for Zachary. When we got to the beach it was very hot and humid as it is in the summer here in Maryland, but Beth was a trooper during the whole session, not mentioning a thing about it.

When the baby arrived just a few weeks later, I got the call to schedule the newborn session. When arriving at their house I could tell how in love they were, smiling ear to ear & so excited. Zachary was just 7 days new and such a perfect little guy. He was one of the best babies I had photographed, sleeping most of the session and had no accidents which is unheard of. Here are a few of my favorites from his newborn session.

Now fast forward 8 months later, I got to meet up with the Wilson family for a spring mini session, they even brought their dog Della. We started the session on the beach, the lighting was prefect and little Zachary was all smiles. The trees where in full bloom so we took advantage of the beautiful spring foliage and I captured some of my favorites images of this family.

After the spring session, I knew they were interested in having me photograph Zach for his 1st Birthday. When they told me the theme of the circus, I was so excited. I knew the colors would be vibrant and fun. For this portrait session Zach and his Mom came to my studio. Everything was set and ready to go, since Zachary was on the go now, we had to work quickly to get the shots. I know Zach's Mom was a bit warn out after the session...gotta admit, I was to. All the little details came together so well. Of course it wouldn't be a 1st Birthday shoot with out a cake smash, so we saved that for last. I'm not sure if Zach had more fun eating the cake or playing in it. Either way, it was a such a fun shoot & it was amazing watching him grow in front of my lens.

Sweet Avery | Steelers Fan | Western Maryland

Little Avery was a sweetheart during her surprise session. I was back home in Western Maryland visiting family, Avery being on of those people. She was all dressed in her Steelers gear, so I asked Mom if she wanted me to take some pictures. I think she was hoping I would because she brought a change of clothes with her, LOL. Baby Cora was one of my 1st newborns I photographed as KD Bug Photography. I had the pleasure of capturing Heather's maternity pictures as well. When she arrived we scheduled our appointment right away. When photographing a newborn session I set up in the comforts of your home, I bring everything to you. It may seen like a lot of work on my part, but lets be honest...you just went through all the work of childbirth, the least I can do is come to you and make things a little less stressful and easier for you.

Cora did perfect. She was sleepy and warm, which is a photographers dream when photographing newborns. I think her Mom & Dad where a bit embarrassed when she decided to have a few accidents, but that's all part of the session, trust me, I'm use to it now & I've learned over time to always bring a change of clothes. Cassleman River Bridge State Park | Grantsville Maryland | Blank Family Portraits

Every year I have the pleasure of photographing this sweet family, which happens to be my brother and his beautiful family. Each year we choose a different time of year and location. For this session Maylee was turning 5 and Sophie was turning 2, such a great age. Miss Maylee was a big helper and watching her interact with cutie bug Sophie is just priceless. They truly get along so well. I know planning for pictures can sometimes be stressful especially when you never know what kind of mood your little ones will be in. You do everything possible to make the session go smoothy, but you can't always plan for everything. For insistence, that morning was prefect weather wise. The fog was just starting to left off the water under the Cassleman River Bridge as the sun was rising. My brother and I thought how prefect would that be to capture the fog in the background. We made our way down the path to the river to find the grass was so wet from the dew & my brother was stuck carrying both girls down to the water, because they both hated to have their feet wet. After a little persuasion we were able to get the girls to corporate & after that is was smooth sailing, as you can see from the photos. You can't always plan for everything when it come to your portrait session but with a little time, patients & a little persuasion were able to create some beautiful memories to cherish for many years to come. What I like most about being a photographer is all of the wonderful people I get to meet and how I get to help document a special time in their lives. I started photographing this loving family when sweet little Easton was just 6 months old. I've had the privilege of capturing his one year pictures and then again this holiday season. He is truly the sweetest little boy with the best smile and biggest beautiful eyes. I know why Easton is always smiling...it's because his Mommy and Daddy are the most loving, happy & caring people. The 20 degree chilly winter day didn't damper their holiday spirits, as you can see they were all smiles. Enjoy!

Fall Mini Session | Lake Waterford Park | BalzannaFamily

With this being my very 1st blog post, I'm very excited and nervous to take this on. I believe images speak for them self, so I wont be going on and on about each image and it's meaning. I will however be able to explain how images are created and provide you with great information about photography & why I love what I do.

So, why am I doing this...

Most of my images are only ever seen by my clients. I have images on my website for viewing and I have my facebook page, but I only ever post just a few pictures from each session. Now I'll get to share with you many more of my favorite images & talk about my sessions because each one of them is truly different. I'll also be getting a little personal, talking about my photography journey, where it all began and how I've grown into the photographer I am today. I'll be giving you some photography tips, like how to create images with that blurry background (also known as Bokeh) which so many of us love, including me. I'll be chatting about why photographers charge what they do. But today I'm posting about the Balzanna Family.

I was thrilled when Kelli called me to book their sons fall mini session. It was their 1st time using a freelance photographer. When we had to cancel due to rain, I got them rescheduled for the following week, and it was a hiccup on my part, because I scheduled them on the one day Kinder Farm Park is closed. What a great 1st impression, LOL. I called them the morning of their session to make them aware so we decide to meet at Lake Waterford Park, another local park, which happened to be where Gage goes frequently to play at the playground. It's funny how it all works out sometimes. It was a gorgeous fall evening. We played in the leaves. We went on a hike. We saw the ducks! We had fun! The session ended with a little treat that I brought...a chocolate mustache, it really made for some adorable photos. He did a terrific job. He warmed right up in front of the camera & even smiled when asked (with out making a "funny" smile), which is pretty surprising for a 3 year old.
