Hi, I'm Kate, the heart and soul behind KD Bug Photography, LLC. I've spent my whole life in Maryland, and I truly love everything this beautiful state has to offer. From the serene beaches to the majestic mountains, I’m grateful for the variety of landscapes that fuel my creativity. Photography is a big part of my life—capturing the moments that tell a story is something that brings me so much joy. When I'm not behind the lens, you’ll likely find me sipping on a hot cup of coffee, soaking in the tranquility of my garden, playing with my dog Jett or spending time with my wonderful family. My faith in Jesus is the foundation of who I am, and it shapes the way I see the world. Whether it's a quiet moment of reflection or a day spent in nature, I’m reminded of His love and grace in everything around me.
My love for photography came at a young age and has grown over the years with my experience and schooling through out Maryland. With over two decades of experience behind the lens, I’ve had the privilege of capturing life’s most profound moments, from intimate portraits to grand landscapes. I’ve honed my craft, adapting to new technologies while staying true to the timeless art of photography.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Art and Photography, where I developed a deep understanding of both artistic expression and technical skills. Throughout my studies, I explored various mediums and techniques, with a particular focus on photography as a powerful storytelling tool. My academic journey equipped me with a strong foundation in visual composition, lighting, and digital editing, while also fostering my creativity and attention to detail. I have had the privilege of working across multiple fields. For the past 12 1/2 years I had worked at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis MD taking the beautiful fresh 48 newborn sessions. Before that I worked for Strawbridge Studios for 10 years capturing children's portraits, sports and seniors all over MD, DC, DE, PA, VA and WV. Glad those days of traveling all over the place are over but what I learned from these experiences is what helped me become the photographer I am today. I also worked in a camera store, processing film, fixing, cleaning and selling cameras. These diverse experiences has allowed me to adapt to different client needs, capturing everything from intimate moments to larger events, all while maintaining a keane eye for aesthetics and quality.
I created KD Bug Photography in 2012 shortly after becoming a mom, and instantly, I knew my passion for capturing moments had found its true purpose. My goal for all my sessions are to provide you with an unforgettable, relaxed & fun experience. Create beautiful lasting memories and high quality portraits for you and your family to treasure. I am incredibly grateful for the trust that my clients have placed in me and for the opportunity to document their stories. Photography is not just a profession for me; it’s a lifelong passion. I look forward to continuing this journey, creating images that not only preserve memories but evoke emotions for years to come.

Session prices start at $175 & Digital packages start at $350.
Military, Police & Fire Department all receive a discount, unless it's a mini session (those are already discounted).

2018 Shoot & Share Finalist
I entered 25 images this year in the international Shoot & Share competition, and the results are in! I placed in the top 100 photos in the category of Birth and Newborn photography, WOW! 95th out of 29,560 images. This truly means so much!
2017 Shoot and Share Finalist
50 images entered in the international Shoot and Share competition and 1 of my images placed as a finalist in the maternity category. 177 out 14,733 images. What an amazing feeling.
